PAS2035:2019 - Retrofitting Dwellings for Improved Energy Efficiency
PAS2035 is the standard which sets out a "whole house approach" to energy efficiency upgrades to existing dwellings. It is mandatory for all schemes that involve U.K. government funding and after an extended transition period due to Covid-19, is due to take effect from 30 June 2021.
PAS2035 was developed following the Each Home Counts Review, and takes into account lessons learned from earlier retrofit projects. It aims to ensure that any improvement measures applied to a property are consistent with both the existing and planned condition of the dwelling and the building services which it contains. The standard takes a fabric first approach, aiming to minimise the energy requirements of a home, whilst at the same time ensuring that the home is well ventilated for its occupants, and that emissions of greenhouse gases are reduced to the fullest extent possible. Net Zero Carbon by 2050 will only be achieved if the U.K.'s existing housing stock is upgraded in line with PAS2035.
